Pedestrians Look Left
Susan helped me out with a school assignment today. We are supposed to shoot something/whatever in the street. I didn't feel like doing anything observational or inquisatory so I shot portraits of Susan instead. Quite happy with this one for some reason.

Why the fuck do my images come out desaturated when I upload them to the internet? This was way more colourful in Photoshop before I uploaded it. Dumbass computers!

happens to me too when i upload images to the 1095.. the colours are always different!

It fucking sucks dude. Why are you still up? I am sketching stuff for a mock Dolce & Gabbana campaign for class tomorrow. I am so fucked.

as long as you have something to show they will be alright.. you will come to realise they are actually pretty relaxed.. i'm just up selecting images, i've been asked to do a solo show in seatle early next year... that and drinking beer, obviously :)

with the upload changing you saturation, does it happen when you export for web from photoshop, or in the upload?

Oli, I never 'save for web'. I just save normally. My colours are way more saturated in Photoshop than in Preview (the image view application on Mac)...

the top of her head is lost in the night sky. i think maybe you wanted it this way, but i'm not sure i dig it.

i really like the way you included the sign and the angle you shot up from. if i were a girl, i would seriously be considering buying that jacket based on this picture.

Night photography like this is a bit hard when the subject has got pitch black hair, I find. I do like the effect this time though. After all, the coat is the important thing here ;)

I regret putting the Courtney Love lipstick wipe on her now.

i'm torn on the make-up, but hold firm to my desire for her to be wearing a hat -- a light brown one that would pull her head out of the sky. that's just me.

looking at it some more, i really like the shadow lines down the jacket.

what sort of lighting were you using? i'm guessing from the lack of reflection off the sign that you didn't use a flash. also, the light on her hand is harsh -- maybe a street light?

actually, if you'd be willing to reveal all your trade secrets, i'd love to know more about the set-up behind this picture.

Easy: flash pointed upwards towards a silver reflector and bounced back at her. The bright hand is bugging me..

What colour space are you shooting & editing in - sRGB? If not, are you converting to sRGB before you upload? Just wondering if this is the issue with the colour/saturation shift when uploading

Oh, I'm shooting in sRGB, editing in sRGB and saving as sRGB. So I pretty much doubt that is the reason. Thanks though!

Sorry for being slow with updates again. I'm having busy days at work and school, and I have Synnøve over for a few days, so it's a bit hard to find time for updates right now. I'll catch up though, don't worry!
